QRU adds Biowin as its newest Commercial Partner

12th Mar 2021

The Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) today announced wearable neurotech specialist Biowin as its latest commercial partner, on a two-year deal.

As part of the partnership, the Biowin brand will feature on the back of the St.George Queensland Reds jersey - below the player number - over the next two seasons.

These neurotech products through Voxx Sports Inc have been worn by professional athletes, Olympic champions and millions of people looking for wellness and performance improvements - in North America and Europe.

The Biowin brand will make its jersey debut live on Channel 9 and Stan during the top of the table Harvey Norman Super Rugby AU round four clash between the Reds and Brumbies in Canberra on Saturday night.

Biowin products combine the best of modern technology with decades of research in neurohaptic science to help people achieve their wellness goals, drug-free and without invasive treatments. Utilising a special tactile pattern that activates neuroreceptors on parts of the body to reduce aches and pains, biowin’s range of footwear, insoles and patches are designed to improve balance, mobility, and pain management – to keep you feeling your best so you can achieve more every day.

Biowin Asia-Pacific Managing Director Muthuraj Guruswamy said: “Neurotech for wellness and sports is a rapidly growing global industry and following our successes in North America and Europe, we are entering the Asia-Pacific market with high expectations.

“All members of the rugby family, from the top of the game to the grass roots - and indeed volunteers of both sexes in clubland - can benefit from our range of neurotech products, as there is something for everyone and every age-group.”

Jay Dhaliwal, the Canadian-based Founder and CEO, who developed the neurohaptic technology embedded in all Biowin products, said: “Whenever we partner with elite sporting teams, we look to find shared culture and ambitions.

“There’s no doubt the Reds are on the rise and importantly now feature regularly on free-to-air television in Australia, which will allow us to introduce our brand and products to the Australian and Asia Pacific market.

“We feel that the timing is right for Biowin to play its part in the success of rugby in Queensland which we feel is building into something very special. We wish to be part of the success story - on and off the field and I look forward to getting ‘Down Under’ to cheer on the Reds. As David says, ‘it’s our time’”, Mr Dhaliwal added.

QRU CEO David Hanham said: “We’re pleased to announce that an international brand is jumping on board to support the QRU and the Reds.

“Significantly, Biowin and its parent company in North America recognise the domestic and international reach that Rugby and the Queensland Reds enjoy - and they were understandably keen to ensure that the Reds is their first major sporting partnership in the Asia-Pacific region.

“Like many of our commercial partners Biowin has been impressed that the relationship they now enjoy with the QRU allows it access to discuss its range of innovative neuro-technology with the entire Queensland Rugby family,” Mr Hanham added.

Biowin joins a stable of blue-chip companies including St.George Bank, Santos and Rio Tinto that have committed to sponsor the Reds and the code in Queensland long-term.
